Blueant Z9i Bluetooth Headset reviews

Like I said I have been trying to find a headset for year. I've tried Plantronics, Motorola, generic wired headsets and others that I can't remember at this time. The Z9i is perfect for me. It's light and comfortable, so after a while you won't even know that it's there. I have read that the volume buttons are difficult to push (or something like that), but I like it the way it is. It's not too sensitive that you have to adjust the volume every time that you put it on, but not to rigid that you have to use a clamp just to adjust the volume. The voice clarity is clear, even when I had my sunroof open driving down the highway. I can still hear my friend and he could still hear me. The pairing between the Z9i and my Tmobile G1 was very easy, it only took me a minute at most to pair them. There's not much else that I can say about this headset, except I highly recommend it. Although I wouldn't pay full price for it, I got mine for about $60 including s/h, but for those who like paying full (retail) price for everything, I would say that it's money well spent.

Over all this a great product, I see others complaining about theirs how they sound far away or muffled. I didn't have that problem at all when I used it my friend said I sounded to close and pointed the headset away a bit and sounded fine. Also I did some investigating on others who have the same headset and found that most of them went on ebay or amazon. Sad to say but some of them were knock offs, just make sure that when you buy one that the seller is an authorized blue ant dealer...

Ear piece hook came out the little hole and would NOT go back in. The one time Radio Shack tried and successfully got it back in, it popped back out. I don't have the kind of ear that will hold a headset without a hook on it. I was out of exchange time with RS and the CS people with Blue Ant were NO HELP. So I have a $70 piece of C&^P. Ahhh, such is life, I suppose. And before this I had to exchange it because the first one wouldn't fit the plug to charge it. CURSED

Had to return the 1st one because of the short battery life. Still awaiting the exchange to see if it's better.

I really wanted this to work. According to all the reviews I've read this was supposed to be top-of-the-line. The salesman at Radio Shack said it was the best seller. However, maybe it just doesn't work well with my Treo 700Wx. I could hardly hear anything, and those I spoke to could not understand me at all. Even sitting alone in an absolutely quiet room did not help. This headset is great in its styling and fit, but as a communication device, it didn't work for me.

Dont know if earbud has anything to do with the voice isolation, but seems after it tore it just didnt work right. I was happy when I first bought it but the quality just doesnt seem that good after 3 months and without being able to purchase new ear buds I'll never know. Just bought the new jawbone let you know in 3 months how it compares.

If you're looking for a BT headset with arguably the best noise reduction and sound quality, look no further! This is the second Blue Ant BT set I've had, upgrading from the original Z9. I've now had the Z9i in use for about 6-7 months and LOVE IT! If you've read my past reviews on BT headsets you'd know I've been thru more than a handful of them. My search centered around one thing, superior noise cancellation/reduction in the car and in general use. As an outside sales rep, I spend a good deal of time in my car and frequently on the phone. (Our legendary traffic here in Southern Calif affords plenty of time for returning client calls etc.) I've been thru many of the most expensive makes and brands out there as spending the cash for a performer was no concern. Eventually I found the Blue Ant Z9. Since then I've looked no further than Blue Ant's products and only upgraded to the Z9i because I needed the upgraded multipoint pairing and more importantly the ability to pair the headset to two phones at the same time. I currently pair the Z9i to an iPhone and a Blackberry at the same time and it works flawlessly! Even a coworker with the same two phones can't get his more expensive Jawbone2 to work like my Z9i and believe me, we've tried.

My Z9i clears general background noise very well on the normal setting and when I'm in the car moving down the freeway the max setting never fails to delete but loudest and most obtrusive sounds. I now very rarely have clients complain about the noise and usually we complain about dropped calls long before background noise. (That's another story for another time.) I also like the clean, simple look of the Z9. I doesn't look like I'm wearing something from Star Trek and the lightweight of the set makes it easy to wear for an hour or two at a time.

My only complaints are twofold ... I really can't wear the thing without the ear hook, just not stable enough. Also, I'm finding the red color is wearing thin around the edges near the volume controls after a few months of use. I doubt the black one would have this issue but it's a small complaint.

Blue Ant absolutely has a winner here! If you need superior noise cancellation and multipoint pairing or just a damn good BT headset, this is an absolute winner!

I initially bought this for my wife, but paired it with my Nokia as well. Being able to simultaneously connect with two devices is great when we go out as a couple. The Z9i is also easy to fit comfortably without too much fuss. Since I use the Jawbone 2 as my main BT headset, and the Z9i on the weekends, here are some comparative notes.

Talk time: Jawbone2 4 hrs if I'm lucky; Z9i at least an hour more.

Noise: JB2 is definitely much better in noisy restaurants; Z9i is good with light noise only.

Charging: JB2 come with a USB power adaptor (good for iPod too) and USB charging cable, and takes about 2 hours for a complete charge; Z9i comes with USB cable and a regular power adaptor, also about two hours to full.

Ease of Use: JB2 has two hidden buttons that are multifunction, no dedicated vol. buttons, rear button is hard to press when wearing device; Z9i has an easy to feel m.f. button and actual volume buttons that work.

Comfort & Fit: JB2 needs a lot of time to adjust for a comfortable fit, as it took me two days of twisting and bending the ear hook to get it just perfect for me and only me. It does come with four ear hooks which is handy (I broke one already); Z9i comes with two hooks (clear plastic and rubberized metal) that slides into a pivoting hinge. It's really easy to get a good fit but also moves out of place too easily which affect the voice quality.

Personally, I still prefer the Jawbone 2 as it allows me to carry a conversation in even the noisiest environment. Although this annoys my wife sometimes, since she can't tell where I am due to the lack of background noise. With the Z9i she can still tell that I'm either in the car or at the bar/office.
