This camera is a direct replacement for a Sony DSC-P72. While the Sony gets great reviews, mine stunk.
This camera has a great 6x optical zoom for the cost of the camera, 4 meapixel, and having never used a Fuji before, the settings, dials and menus are straight forward, fast, and simple. I've used Sony and Olympus cameras, and this camera is top notch. The pictures I've taken, mostly outdoors, have been very sharp for zoom, as well as macro use. Indoor pictures without a flash are a bit darker than I'd like on the auto setting, but nothing that can't be fixed in Photoshop.
There are only two drawbacks I've encountered so far-- while the viewfinder has the beneifit of being an LCD so you can see "exactly" what you are framing, the LCD itself seems low resolution-- think an old VHS cam order viewfinder. Second, the camera lens cover is "loseable". It is not attached to the camera in any way, so once you pop it off, you have to pocket it or keep track of it.
Overall, the camera has so far had decent battery life, takes great pictures on full auto mode, and while stylish and plastic, does not seem flimsy or cheap. I decided to have two cameras-- a tiny occasional camera (Sony Ericsson S710a phone camera) and this one. There just wasn't a single small package with high optical zoom to fill both needs. This one fills the need of the zoom camera.
