Fujifilm FinePix S3100 reviews

This camera is excellent for its price. I purchased it at Wal-Mart for $228. It has great picture quality, excellent for day and night pictures, the automatic focus is really quick, and the LCD is bright and big. The video function is a good feature, but it has no sound, and it comes out in AVI format, and Windows Media Player cannot play it correctly you have to use Quicktime. The included software is alright, but could have been better.

It is a fairly decent camera that offers good photos in almost any condition. It is most certainly worth a look if your looking for a nice camera under $100.00. (I suggest buying it for $89.00 at www.fotoconnection.com, its the best deal around when they throw in the free accessories) One last thing, the optical zoom can be used both video modes. (however there is no audio recording capability)

I had the smaller FinePix and it was wonderful and did what it was supposed to. I got my NEW S3100 off ebay for $162.00 with shipping and it workes wonderfully. Bigger and better closeups and easy to work, just for the hubby!!!

For what I use a camera for, this Fuji is very good (travel, family gatherings). Options for picture resolution is nice and it has many other features that I probably don't take advantage of very often. The main issues I have with this camera is that unless outside on a bright sunny day, the flash for the most part must always be on or the pictures will be blurry, not a problem for me anymore as its habitual. The size is not that convenient for pockets but it's nice to have the lens shade. I'm happy with it and got it for a decent price.

This camera is more than adequate for me; what I might call an experienced casual shooter who has used totally manual and also mostly automatic cameras over the years. There are some, but not complete manual settings; however the ones included will cover most unusual cases. Image quality is very good if not excellent, though the delay in taking the picture takes some getting used to; no problem with landscapes, but makes facial expressions problematic. Obviously one needs to upgrade the memory card and have rechargable batteries; I just figure this in with the cost of the camera. In my case a 256MB XD card and rechargable batteries from an old lower res camera left the total cost under $200; a reasonable price for a great point and shoot camera with that 6X zoom. Naturally one needs to keep the camera steady with the zoom; I carry a midget tripod all the time and take several shots when handheld. The viewfinder images are low quality and small, a negative but one I can live with. For my small hands and relatively short fingers the camera shape and size is not a problem. I would also like to have a small "fit in pocket" camera to carry most the time, and this is definitely not that, but this does things a tiny camera just can't, so you pays your money and takes your choice. I am well pleased, it was a cost effective choice to do what I wanted; there are plenty of better cameras out there, but not at this price.

This camera is a direct replacement for a Sony DSC-P72. While the Sony gets great reviews, mine stunk.

This camera has a great 6x optical zoom for the cost of the camera, 4 meapixel, and having never used a Fuji before, the settings, dials and menus are straight forward, fast, and simple. I've used Sony and Olympus cameras, and this camera is top notch. The pictures I've taken, mostly outdoors, have been very sharp for zoom, as well as macro use. Indoor pictures without a flash are a bit darker than I'd like on the auto setting, but nothing that can't be fixed in Photoshop.

There are only two drawbacks I've encountered so far-- while the viewfinder has the beneifit of being an LCD so you can see "exactly" what you are framing, the LCD itself seems low resolution-- think an old VHS cam order viewfinder. Second, the camera lens cover is "loseable". It is not attached to the camera in any way, so once you pop it off, you have to pocket it or keep track of it.

Overall, the camera has so far had decent battery life, takes great pictures on full auto mode, and while stylish and plastic, does not seem flimsy or cheap. I decided to have two cameras-- a tiny occasional camera (Sony Ericsson S710a phone camera) and this one. There just wasn't a single small package with high optical zoom to fill both needs. This one fills the need of the zoom camera.
