A great handheld. It's quick and smooth reaction. great with games and office applications.
I had the Dell Axim, the HP iPaq 1910 and now the iPaq 3955...hands down, this one is the best of the three! I hated the Dell. I loved the 1910 except for the fact that I had to have it on the charger ALL the time and the processor was wimpy. The first 3955 I purchased had a dead pixel, so I exchanged it...this one is GREAT! A little big, but not as big as the Axim, plus a lot more stylish and sturdy feeling. Definitely a winner from a long line of great handhelds!
I just purchased a new HP Ipaq 3955 at Office Depot had a HP 1910 and just could not live with non SDIO compatability slot so I could not live with the Dell plastic case so I decided to give the Ipaq 3955 a shot and do I love this thing or what. It has blazing speed straight out of the box and the screen is the best I've seen, also we must mention the clear scratch resistant case that comes with it a all around great product go out and get a great Pocket PC get a HP Ipaq 3955!
After six months of ownership, I rarely carry my Dell Laptop - I can do all I need remotely with my iPAQ. I expect this trend to continue since new PPC2002 software is consistently released.
Besides a removable battery and built in CF card support this is the baby to carry with you at all times.
This is my 3rd PPC. I bought the 3 year contract with Best buy in June 2000 and they've replaced it when it broke down. I just got the 3955 and what an amazing upgrade from previous models. The screen is incredible!! It flawlessly sync'd up w/ my work computer and everything works perfect. I have the compact flash sleeve w/ a 340MB Microdrive card. Works great but does draw on the battery more than running it w/out. Battery life seems great especially in comparison w/ former models.
I use it as a game machine, portable office and mp3 player. Works great! The only flaws I could find are it's short battery life while gaming (2-3 hours) and the controls are not really ergonomic for gaming.
I work at a best buy store in the pda section. I have to say that the 3955 is inexpensive enough for the normal consumer, but gives you features like, bluetooth capabilities, wireless internet, and speed that out matches it's predesessors. I do not have one now, but i am buying one in the near future. The TFT screen and ambient light sensor are a must if your out in the field. A bright 65,000 colors surpasses anything before it. The many expansion sleeves makes it versitile to any business or family application. The fast 400 mhz processor allows you to check e-mail, or download software at an amazing rate. All around a great product.
I rcently owned a HP 1910 iPaq a nice PDA too. Butit did not have all the features that the iPaq 3955 had to offer. So I returned it a bought the iPaq 3955 and I am very happy with it. Don't get me wrong the HP 1910 was very nice, small and compact. But I rather have the bulky and other features than light and small. I especially like the built-in nevo remote control feature. Now I can control the TV, Satalite, VCR and DVD player with it.
I just got one and I think I like it! Though it's on the bulky side, it's very masculine and very tough. I had the Ipaq 1910 before, very stylish...but very flimsy and lack of juice. This baby looks great, runs great... So far so good.
