How it works. First plug in your Linksys powerline AV adapter into an electrical outlet near your internet router. Then plug in the provided ethernet cable into your internet router.
This product by Linksys is an easy plug and play device. In my house my wireless router is located in my office and my entertainment center is on the other side of the house. Instead of buying individual wireless adapters for my Xbox 360, Samsung Blu Ray player, Dish Network VIP 722 DVR, and Samsung HDTV I opted to buy this one product for a solution for all of them.
Then go to your electronics that need the internet and plug in your 4 port bridge adapter into an electrical outlet. Then just plug in each device via a ethernet cable into the 4 port ethernet adapter.

You can't go wrong with this product.
If it works, you might be OK. If not, plan to spend 2 hours on the phone with people that never heard of the product, and then be told by Linksys to buy a different one of their products that actually works!
Excellent solution for expanding your network to the places your wireless signal can't reach.
Our new Samsung TV is network ready and so is our Panasonic Blu-Ray player. Samsung sells a proprietary wireless USB dongle, but I wanted something that would work both with the TV and the DVD player. Enter the PLK300 which will work with any Ethernet enabled device (Roku, Laptop, Game console).
The guy at Bestbuy sold me on this solution, saying he uses one for gaming. I was looking into a wireless bridge but this sounded much easier to set up and he promised faster than Wireless N speeds. The box states 200 mbps and that meets with my experience. It puts Youtube video on the TV without a hitch. And my TV has a built in media player and plays video from my laptop seamlessly.
To set up, plug in the daughter unit into the wall (instructions recommend connecting directly to the wall outlet and NOT into a surge protector, stating it has protection built in). Plug in an Ethernet ready device (two cables included with the unit). Then Plug in the mother unit, and connect it via Ethernet cable to your router. That's it. The unit's configured themselves and found each other automatically. Everything worked as advertised. The PLK300 found DHCP , obtained IP addresses, and then both my TV and my Bluray player connected up automatically and obtained IP addresses too (both immediately updated their firmware).
The units are small, about the size of a paperback book, and can be easily hidden and placed out of the way
The PLK300 has built in encryption just in case the signal leaks out side of your house wiring. And it is FAST (no obvious latency, video runs without a hitch). I haven't even used the installation CD that came with the device.
The PLK300 comes with four available ports on the daughter unit, and you can add a second daughter unit (not included) according to the instructions.
This device does one thing and does it well. Highly recommended.
In case you're wondering: The devices are plugged into separate house circuits (different breakers) and still communicate just fine
This unit (4 port) allowed for connection of xbox 360, PS3, and meda device without having to purchase additional equipment and in my case provided better band performance than wireless access. The Linksys PLK300 kit is a wise purchase. Have owned the kit since June 2009.
Don't spend the money. If you need good networking in your home and can't run Ethernet then take the money an invest in good wireless devices and antennas. They the network connecitivy will be more reliable then these Linksys units.
