Version 3 of this bridge has an in-built problem that will cause it to hang after a time of operation in WPA PSK mode. V2 of the bridge was OK. I've confirmed that this is the case with 3 brand new bridges out of the box.
An expensive tech brick
My recent Linksys RMA Dept. experience has left me sour with all Cisco products that I own, and sadly I own 2 WET54G's. They have lost a customer that believes in product loyalty when the product line is worthy, but the SOP routine when you have a broken unit is the nightmare not worth reliving.
To abridge, I sent my original broken unit to LINKSYS and they sent me in return a broken quality assured replacement. OK, another RMA and apologies, repackage & repeat step 1. A full month after this began I receive an old unit with a broken antenna. (??!!) Another RMA dance & apology SOP routine (forced to use a credit card to cross-ship, no exceptions!) and I receive (drum-roll please) my ORIGINAL unit repaired. A month of aggravation and I'm done with LINKSYS.
As previously mentioned in another review, this unit does hang after a rather short period of time if used in a WPA-PSK. Wish I had read the review beforehand...
I'll keep the WET54G because it works, and because I didn't know about the re-flashing capability of the WRT54G until later.
Go with Belkin Powerline AV - works easily, simple installation,
After having two D-LINK and one SMC bridges DOA out of the boxes. I had to go to 5 retailers including 3 national chains to find the one WET54G in all of Silicon Valley. The other brands were less expensive but were poorly made given our 3/3 DOA average.
We were online in about 5 minutes after reseting the IP's on our 4 computers and the 3 laser printers on our office network. The documentation is good, the software easy to understand and the wizard works! Imagin that. Lets see how well it lasts, but I think it will be as solid as the Linksys 8 port hub that connects everything.
