I owned the original droid and this is by far 10x better. I would recommend this phone to anyone who likes the Droid X's form factor and wants a fast (processor speed) phone, as long as they don't need 4G connectivity.

I got the X2 because I had the original droid and wanted a solid phone without 4G. It's super fast and a terrific screen. The dual-core is really nice.
I thought Motorola would provide a basically untouched OS but I was totally wrong to assume this. I can't get rid of about 10 obnoxious apps. I never before considered rooting my phone but this might do it.
I am so glad that Verizon has this phone. The X series by Motorola are built robustly and have excellent call quality. I can honestly say that I have personally owned the Thunderbolt, a couple of Incredbiles, the original Galaxy and the Droid 1. The Droid X series combines all of these phones into one, yet maintains the physical buttons at the bottom of the screen. The X2 is an improvement on an already excellent phone.
I bought the Samsung Fasinate and took it back after five days, wasn't happy with the phone - it wasnt nearly as intuitive and easy to use as the Droid 2x. After reading many cell phone reviews (I determined nothing is perfect) but decided to try the Droid 2X and I am very very pleased with it. Battery is much easier to take off, don't have to break a nail trying to get it off. Not at all unhappy with the battery life but then I'm not on it all day. It's sleek and has a beautiful screen and more features then I will probably ever use and plenty of apps available.
I just have one complaint and that is that the directions for dowloading and installing ringtones on the Verizon site are all wrong. After speaking with two tech support persons from Verizon and one from Motorola I finally learned that you cannot install ringtones from a text message attachment. I had to purchase and download tunes directly from the phone. If that was on the website, manual or other directions it would have saved a lot of time and frustration. Now that I have this figured out I love the phone and would highly recommend this phone.
Verizon has pre-installed a massive amount of bloatware on the the phone that can not be removed, so much to the point that it cripples the phone straight out of the box. It may be dual core but simply browsing your apps and homescreens tell a different story as similar phones such as the xperia play offer a smoother experience overall. Call quality its BELOW my Origianl Droid, and I have tried several different units so I know mine isn't defective.
