Nokia 6030 - black reviews

I had a Motorola L2 before this phone and this phone is exceptional compared to the L2. The reception is remarkable compared to the Motorola. I can talk in places that I never had reception before. Furthermore, the battery lasts days and days with regular phone use. The key pad feels nice and it is an overall nice phone. The call quality is the best on any cell phone I've used to date. Calls are loud and the speaker phone is great for in the car. It rings loudly and is comfortable to use. Definitely a good pick.

The one thing I do not like is that the ring tones that come with phone are few in number and most of them are "tunes" and not simple rings. That is frustrating but there are two decent ones to choose from.

For free, you would have a hard time beating this phone if you are looking for something with great reception and call quality and not a gadgety phone with a bad camera.

This is a very good phone for the basic operations of making calls. A small phone, easily goes into the pocket. The only drawback i found with this is " No Bluetooth". I dont mind if this doesnt have a camera, because most of the time even a phone has basic camera its useless. We cant take good pictures with them and even transfering them to a computer is headache. The only feature i would like to add to this phone is the bluetooth. With that we i can have bluetooth ear piece and leave the phone in the pocket. But still with a wired headset it works good.

A few more drawbacks are for the radio to play it needs a headset which does not come with the phone if u purchase it from cingular.

I got this as my first cell phone - it was cheap, and did what I wanted it to do: make calls.

Opinions often differ on this matter, but I found that all I needed to do on my cell phone was to make and receive calls, build a contact list, and perhaps use the occasional calculator ******* or play a little game. I found the Nokia 6030 did these tasks quite perfectly.

I had no problems with reception on this phone, with my local carrier. The sound quality was good, though a tiny bit on the quiet side. The phone came with decent features and games, and the downloadable ones were all great.

If anything, the buttons (particularly the top two menu select buttons) felt like it was made of a cheap plastic - which it is. But nothing that was unforgivable for the low price. I did find a tiny bug when using visual themes, where the theme could not be reset to the default one once another one was applied, but I don't know if this was a design flaw with the software or with the theme. Otherwise, the phone works perfectly for me.

I recommend this phone to anyone who simply wants a phone for the simplest of cell phone tasks (making calls!), while looking sleek doing so. The black and silver is quite striking and looks more expensive from afar than it actually is.

buy the phone if for little use and need to make calls rarely, but otherwise go to a higher end nokia for durability. otherwise, great purchase

The intended use was a phone and I get great reception with my carrier, Cellular One. I don’t buy a phone for a camera, PDA or mp3 player. This phone fits the bill.

I have this phone for three months now, I'm still surprised how long the battery last and how fast it recharges when the battery is low. It's way better than my Motorola V551 in terms of battery life. But I can't personalize the menu, which is annoying once I got used to be able to do so on my V551. Especailly when cingular set the most convienent button to be shopping on media net. I'm afraid I'll buy something by mis-type a key one day. But interms of a phone. This phone has been working great. Good reception clear voice. It's a little big as a basic phone, but it's really light.

This phone has solid reception and crystal clear voice quality. I like in Northern California, and currently using T-mobile.
Even when the signal strength dropped down to 1 bar, I was still able to place a call and still have clear voice coming through.

Unlike some people said, the phone does have volumne control in both normal mode and speaker mode. You just need to push the navigaion button left or right to control volume.

In addition, the menus are customizable.
Some users reported the menus can't be customized, they just didn't push the right buttons.

This phone is a super bargin, especially if you buy it from Target or Walmart as a prepaid phone. It goes for $39.99 and comes with $10 airtime. Remember, you can use the phone for paid plan as well. And you get even get it unlocked and it on Cingular or other GSM network. There's no 2yr contract to deal with. Unlocking it was simple using the worldunlock code calculator to generate unlock code for the phone.

I was orginally interested in the Motorola SLVR, but heard bad reviews on the phone. the SLVR lacked a automatic keylock feature, which i feel is absolutely essential for a candy bar phone. Also, this Nokia is much more compact than the SLVR. Like other Nokia phone, all of the accessories are compatible, so you don't need to buy new chargers or headset. Don't know why Motorola keeps changing their accessories.

The drawbacks on this phone is the lack or connetivity. There is no free way to send custom pictures, ringtones to this Nokia. However, you can still do it by MMS message or TZone internet. I just borrowed someone's sim card that has unlimited internet access to get all the pictures and ringtones I want into my phone.

Although this phone looks like a much more expensive phone, the construction is not great. The phone boby doesn't feel solid because it uses changable face plates. And when you hold it it seems to 'creek' a little. But if this is like other Nokia phones, I would expect it to be plenty durable and reliable.

There's no camera built in to the phone, but I don't know any phone that takes pictures good enough to keep. I have 2 different camera phones that take 1.3Mega pixel pictures and neither of them can take pictures of any quality.

I would definately recommend this phone to others. This is a very well made, well designed phone that works great a phone. If you want a toy, then look into other phones with more features, if you want a reliable communication device, this one is for you.

I've had this phone for a little over a month and I've been pretty happy with it. I upgraded to this phone from a Nokia 3595 and found that this is a good successor to that line of indestructible candy bar phones.

This phone is smaller and thinner than my old phone, plus it gets better reception. A negative I've found is that the earpiece volume does not get very loud. This may be due to the fact that speakerphone was added to this phone (which works pretty well). I've also noticed a hissing sound at higher earpiece volumes.

Unlike those thin SLVRs and RAZRs, this phone is bulky but this adds a lot of durability to the design. I've had this phone drop from my 6 ft. high loft and the phone kept working fine and doesn't even have any marks on it from the fall!

I've played around with the radio feature on this phone and its nice, but it requires a nokia attachment to work (won't work with any old headphones).
