Palm Treo 650 wireless headset reviews

I have used this BT headphone for about 2 weeks with my Treo 650. Results have been as good or better than with another Motorla BT headset I have. Only complaints that I have (which have nothing to do with the headset) are:

1) The Treo 650 phone still uses the old BT 1.1 standard, so around wireless networks or computers, lots of static. I am forced to use a wired headset on my Treo 650 when I am at home. On the road, this thing works fine. I guess the headset is BT 1.1 and 1.2, but it takes '2' to tango.

2)The Treo 650 doesn't allow you to do all of the features that this BT headset that it can do with other BT-enabled phones, like voice-dial.

Nice feature is that it shares the same charging adaptor as the Treo 650. Some one actually had a brain on that one.

I like the headset and the issues that I have had have nothing to do with it, but are related to the Treo 650 phone.

I have had my Treo headset for nearly a year now and have to say that it was the best investment I made to go with my Treo. Using it around the house or on the street is excellent as it filters out extraneous noise extremely well. However, when I have to speak softly it does not do as a great of a job picking up my voice as well as the Tekkeon EZtalker, which I have tested out as well. That being said, I would much prefer to have the sound filtering capability that the Treo headset has as when I am in the car or on the train.

The design is excellent for daily use. There are no covers, snap on pieces, or anything that may detach from the headset with constant usage. Simply put, this headset is simply built and feels like it is one integrated piece.

As for durability, I cannot say enough. This headset really is built to last. The other day I accidentally left my headset in a pair of shorts that went through a wash (with detergent and fabric softener) and complete dry cycle. After charging it up, I tried calling some technical support to troubleshoot an issue with my router. The headset worked perfectly. After a wash and dry and there was nothing wrong with the headset! Palm has always impressed me with their workmanship and have continued to do so with their Treo 650 headset. Bravo!

Why spend the money when it doesn't work with Voice Dial? Hard to turn on and off.

I read the other reviews and decided to try it for my Treo 650. The complaints about audio either don't apply to my unit or Palm ONe has fixed the low volume issue. Mine works great even on the train. Setup was a breeze and it is a great money saver to have an extra charger for my phone (one at work and one at home). So far so good.

This headset is really wonderful:
I suffer from sensitivity in the inner ear, that causes even earbuds to cause discomfort after 20 minutes. I also dislike having a wire going near my throat. The design of the Treo Bluetooth headset is such that the earpiece 'floats' just outside the inner ear without ever touching it. HOWEVER...due to the angling and quality of the earpiece speaker, I hear conversations fine...even when driving in my convertible with the top down.
pa1mOne did a great job: setting it up with the Treo 650 couldn't be more simple, nor could the actual operation of the headset. The buttons are large, and set far enough apart that you don't have to 'feel' for the right one when a call is coming in. The device is so light, and so adjustable, that I don't even know its there...even on a 2-hour drive, or long conference call in a lobby, train or terminal.
Bottom line: if you have a Treo 650, and want a slam-dunk bluetooth solution, look no further. HOWEVER...please look further then p1's website to buy it. The list price of almost $80 is silly, and it can be found for much less online.

The biggest allure of the Treo headset was being able to use the same chargers and hopes of easy device pairing - no disappointment there. However, right out of the box I was disappointed with the loose fit and somewhat low volume. But I fixed that! I took an old gel earbud from my former Jabra headset - shaved off the piece of the gel that didn't have the hole for sound transmission and viola! Now it fits perfectly - not loose at all. And, not only is it incredibly comfortable, but the earbud seems to focus the speaker volume INTO your ear instead of AT your ear and now I can hear in all but the noisiest surroundings! Give it a try.

I just got myself this Treo Headset for my Treo 650 phone. I think this is by far the best headset for the 650. I did extensive research and read 100's of reviews. I also tried the Scala 500, Moto 500 and a Plantronics Model. None of them come close the clarity of this one. I found the fit a little loose on the ear all by itself. But it was perfect when I put it with the Jabra Ear Gel. It paired very easiliy within seconds. There were no statics as in other headsets. I have not tried going too far with it away from the phone. If you have the 650, I recommend this headset.

I bought this headset shortly after receiving my Treo 650. Connecting it to my Treo was pretty straightforward, but using the headset anywhere outside of a relatively quiet environment has not been so great. Users have a hard time hearing me if I am outside, and even in indoor settings, the clarity of the speaker's voice can still be subpar. Turning up the volume can still leave you straining to hear your caller; the loose design of the earpiece sometimes means the headset moves against and away from your ear while moving, making having a conversation much more tiresome than just holding your phone to your ear.

I have had the 650 wireless headset for 2 weeks now and have just sent it back for an exchange in hopes that my problems are related to a bum unit. I like the product with exception of the following:
1. When I have the phone on one side of my body and the headset on the other I get a "clicking" and severe static.
2. Similarly when I am using the phone/headset around my computer no matter how far or close the two are apart I get the same clicking/static.
3. Frequently I would turn the phone and the headset on and the phone and/or headset would not recognize the other was there. The only solution I could figure out was to go through the pairing process again and again.
4. There is a light on the power button of the headset that flashes indicating the headset is now on. The problem is the light is under your thumb while your pressing the button so you cant see it.
5. When making or receiving a call the headset/phone will take 2-3 seconds to make the connection with the other forcing me to frequently apologize for why I am not there on in-bound calls.
I like the unit but to be quite honest the only feature that I find of any value that has to do with it being Treo 650 unit is that it shares the same charger. Otherwise I wish I had bought one of the highly rated Motorola units (and may just do that if the one I get in return doesnt solve the problems I was having).

I recently purchased a Plam Treo 650 and wanted to use the handsfree Bluetooth feature. I bought a wireless headset directly from Palm store. It gives a lot of static even at 2-to-3 feet distance from the phone device. At 10-to-15 ft range the static is just too much. Voice quality is the principal feature for any handsfree device and this one doesn't meet the standard.
