Samsung MM-A900 reviews

i really do enjoy using this phone. i was not sure how i was going to react going from a pda phone like the treo 650, to the samsung mm a900, but the transition has not be hard. the blade's web browser opens all of the web sites i need it to open. the display of the web is great. the browser fits the whole web page into one window. the EVDO speeds are fantastic! sprint says the speeds are between 500 to 700 KBS, with peaks of 2 MB's. I have been seeing on average at the very least 1 MB a second, which is so cool, because that speed is faster then my home connection!!!
In closing, i think this phone is well worth its cost. if you want something with more memory and battery power, try sprint's other EVDO phones, like the Sanyo mm9000 or the samsung mm a920. i have heard great things about both of those phones as well. i still feel sprint's data speeds are faster then any other carriers out there. so i have no plans on switching carriers. $10 dollers a month for my treo 650 data access is the best price i have ever seen.

so great phone, if you need other features, by another sprint EVDO phone. if you want some great features packed into a reall slim phone, then this is for you!

I have had the A900 for over 1 week. It's sleek and feature packed. Sure it looks like the RAZR, but who cares? It's on Sprint's network & this is a good thing.

We've been crying out for Bluetooth; this phone delivers the goods. I've transfered files (jpegs & MP3s) back and forth to my Tungsten T3 with no problems. Had a problem with my first A900 and returned it for another one. The first phone would freeze up at the menu and operated very sluggish. Transfering contacts was a snap with BT from the Tungsten T3. Absolutely no problem, transferred over 120 contacts and 250+ numbers in less than 1 hr.

I've used 2 BT headsets with this phone and settled on the Jabra BT800. It works like a charm and is loud and clear. Pairing is easy and takes seconds...no problems. The slickest part of this phone is the ability to connect your PC/laptop to the internet using a USB cable. EVDO speeds (dsl) on your laptop from anywhere with signal. NICE.

Still I can't say that this phone is for everyone. Due to it's size is prone to being dropped & there are no accessories on sale yet. You'll want a spare battery and a car charger, especially if you want to use Bluetooth. With a RAZR belt clip the phone fits fine.

Surfing the net is fine, the MP3's sound great, the camera is about what you should expect...NOT a Nikon or Canon, just a phone camera. You can select vibrate for ANY ringer level, a nice plus. Add Sprint TV and I think this phone is a clear winner. It's better and cheaper that my Sanyo 8300 which it replaced. (Although I miss the 8300's better battery life.) The A900 does not support BT Chat or BT SMS. Samsung has no plans to do so either.

With moderate use > 1.5 talk hrs (especially w/ BT) your phone will need to be charged at the end of the day. Good news is that mine charged in just over 1hr after losing 2 bars. The A900 should hit 3 hours talk time and about 1 week stand by. With better battery life and an actual button for speaker phone (it's a menu selection), this phone could be a 10.

This Samsung has 3G and doesn't suffer from Mot's typically inferior UI

The RAZR from Cingular & T-Mobile is truly out-of-date in that it is based on 18 year old GSM technology..... With s-l-o-w GPRS data service & EDGE, which only matches Sprint & Verizon's older 1X data services...

So what that the RAZR is available in colors? Apple already dropped this w/ the switch to the Nano as yesterday's fashion statement (leave it to Moto to be a year behind! LOL!)

It will be interesting to compare it to Verizon's 3G RAZR however...

I feel I need to list a review. People need to understand that this is Samsung's first crack at making this type of phone. Just like Motorola could not add features into their first RAZR model, samething goes for the Blade. Since this is their first Blade model, we all need to cut them some slack. Improvements will continue to be added, but give them time. We now have access to a great phone, and in the Blade2 and Blade3 and so forth we will get everything we need from a phone.
I do love this phone a lot! Yes, there could be more battery life and memory. Which seems to be the most common wants. But overall this is a great phone. I really love the look of it. Me being an artist, I see beauty in many forms. The cold black steel look of this phone, with the new White/Yellow Sprint Nextel logo adds a unique look to this phone. This might seem trivial to some, but for me it means a lot. I have always loved seeing the Sprint logo on my phone. It has always meant the phone and service are reliable. That gives me a very satisfying peace of mind. And this new logo makes me feel even better!
This phone has not dropped a signal once! No static! No problems at all! So this phone is the perfect complement to Sprint's already powerful, reliable, service.

I just feel people need to understand whe whole picture, not just see the flaws in the phone.

My bro, dad, and mom has the same RAZR in da same ole' Cingular. Well, gladly Im a sprint customer...I had a crappy free nokia phone for 4 years that nobody wants and everyone in my family, especially my bro, laughs at it. So, I got this new cool phone A900 DA BLADE! I'm not sure if I am going to use all that freakin features like mp3 player, tv thing, camera/camcorder thing, bluetooth thing, and all those other things that I dunno kno how to use. But, it certainly impressed my techy bro. This time...hes not laughin'

Up until recently I was a Verizon Wireless customer. I purchased the LG VX9800 thinking VCast would be this great new feature. It was not at all. VCast only works on the EV-DO network. Which is patchy in my area. Sprint's EV-DO features work everywhere on Sprint's network. The speeds are just slower on the 1X. Sprint also does not limit their Internet access. The Verizon X9800 like every other phone except for Verizon's PDA's has really no access to the Internet. Just stupid, limited WAP access. This phone, the Sam MMA900 can load most web sites. I have also found tons and tons of Java content on Sprintusers.com . Verizon's BREW is crap. I really mean basically crap! Verizon offers nothing good, and there is no such things a free BREW. Anything used on a Verizon phone, has to be purchased from Verizon. Java is literary all over the place. I can download it through file sharing programs, buy Java content CD's off of Ebay, download Java from developers web sites, everywhere!
Verizon offers nothing in the way of add-ons. You can get the basics and that is it. Sprint has a whole page with nothing but plan add-ons.
I was thinking about buying the Treo 700, but Verizon wanted forty dollars for access. Sprint says it is only ten and fifthteen dollars.

Verizon has fallen so far behind the times. They force their customer to buy limited BREW software and have only WAP Internet access. Verizon is also limiting MP3 playback on their new MP3 phones.
Sprint said they would never do that.
Sprint's voice sounds exactly the same as Verizon. They both sound just like you are talking on a landlines. Cingular and T-Mobile make you sound like robots.
I quit Verizon and am now with Sprint. I held out hoping VCast would bring new things but it didn't. I am now very happy with Sprint.

This is an honest review from a former Verizon, now current Sprint customer. I made this review just to help others out. Not to push an agenda.

i felt a need to post a review because so many other non-sprint customers feel the need to bash something they do not own.
i have a sprint and verizon customer and both networks are powerful. both have great advantages, and both have a great lineup of phones. i own this sprint phone and the verizon vx9800 and i love both of them very, very much!!!
from what i can tell, for every six honest users reviews, some cingular or t-mobile users will come in here and bash a phone that 90% of us here love.
if you do not own this phone, then get lost!!! we love our phones and out service. if you love another carrier, then post feedback on them. don't make a fool out of yourself and post false reviews just to being down the total ratings for this phone.

I sell Sprint phones at a retailer, and since day one, I have been trained to tell people "If you want the best of the best that sprint has to offer, go with Sanyo." So, when I bought my last cell phone, it was an 8200. I was coming from a very old phone, so the 8200 was a marvel of technology and design in my mind.
My 8200's antenna shorted out while showing a customer how to use an external antenna. I debated for a long time whether or not to get the 8300 or wait for the new volley of phones to come out. On the plus side, the Sanyos have been lauded for their durability and service. However, their lineup has become stale, and I couldn't wait for a phone that could wow me and my customers.
So I bought an A900. Compared to the 8200, this is jawdropping. Not only can it do 10 times more than the Sanyo would ever do, it is surprisingly durable (take the battery cover off, drop it on the floor, and listen) and I get better reception with it. Granted, the 8200 had major flaws, many of which were fixed by the 8300. I did not choose the 9000 because it is just too big, while the new 7500 is not quite out yet, and for the same price as the "Blade," it's no contest.
Sprint has a winner with this phone, and I guarantee that you will see more and more people with sprint logo on their phones in the next year.

Added Pros: Power Visions speed is really fast, 18 bit QVGA display, small overall size with large screen, nice metal look and feel, does not get all that warm with use, full of great features, and Power Visions services are so mega nice! Watching TV, listening to satellite radio and streaming radio is great! No skipping, or reloading needed. TV is clear and in full-frame. Added TV and radio content is very fair price. Cartoon Network's Adult Swim is $3.95 a month for unlimited viewing of live TV and clips.
Service even works in area's with no EV-DO, just the normal 1X CDMA network.

Added Cons:Battery power is not so good (I have been getting two and half hour talk times), unknown Stand-By times, 128MB's of mass storage is not completely available for user to store content. Bulk of storage is used for other programs, Applications, ect. I think 60MB's can be used by the user to store MP3's, photos, movies, ect.
This is my biggest fault against the phone.
