Sony Ericsson K550i - jet black price and reviews

all in all this phone is good. not great. when riding the bus i cant hear who I'm talking to as well as i wish i could due to low volume. this can be resolved with getting a blue tooth headset. speaker phone isnt the best either. sometimes i put the speaker phone in my ear if i have to take a call in a crowded area. camera gives ok quality pictures. sometimes blurry sometimes great all depends on the auto focus. great strong flash. mp3/radio is very nice. so are the themes. screen very very nice and colorful and crisp. overall has one more step to be the best in my book.

Overall I do like this phone. I wish I could like it more but one thing really bugs me: The battery cover. you have to perfectly place the cover into tiny slots on one side and then "fold" it over to the other side, where there are two tiny hinges that secure it. The problem is that when it's secured, it feels flimsy. You are constantly hearing creaking noises while going through the menu. SE designed a phone that does a ton of stuff so you would think they would come up with a solid back cover that stays in place and feels solid. That"s actually the biggest gripe I have about the phone.

I considered the W610i as an alternative because I am more into the music aspect than the camera aspect, but I didn't like the colors and styling of the W610i. The K550i has a classy look to it.

The walkman works pretty much like any of the other walkman phones, as does the radio. Very pleased on both those fronts. It also has lots of other nifty things I like: a flashlight, alarm, calendar, timer, calculator, internet, email. The list goes on.

I'm a big fan of Sony Ericsson's bar shaped phones as they are always cool looking and totally different than what other companies offer, and the k550i is no exception. Owner of a w810i, the k550i is very similiar in features and size, but weighs less and is thinner, so if you ever wished the w810i was lighter, this is the phone for you. I think the biggest possible issue with this phone is probably the keypad, and to be honest, isn't as bad as one may think. Yes they are thin, but they are raised a bit and are easy to press with very tactile response. If you don't have issues with the w810i keypad or similiar phones with small keypads, the k550i shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, call clarity and loudness is very good, and the speakerphone is equally as loud, though I wish it was on the side of the phone rather than the bottom. The phone's UI is similiar to that of the k790/k800, and it's pretty quick, no menu lag that I have experienced. The camera is the same as the w810i, 2mp w/ a sliding lens cover that comes in handy. One new feature that I like is the fact that I can set up to 5 different alarms, rather than just one. Overall I'm very pleased, it took me a while to find a perfect phone, and the w810i was pretty much it, just that the k550i is that aswell plus a little more. Good job Sony Ericsson!

Having owned this phone for a little over a week, and taking a month to review what phone were available; I have found I made the right choice in selecting the SONY-ERICSSON K550i. Built in Radio tuner, Voice commands, 2.0MP Camera with Video, MP3 player, Small Form Factor, A2DP Bluetooth, IR, etc.. I just wish it has WI-FI. The Organizer functions are as good as any I have tested. I can really appreciate the thought Sony-Ericsson put into this phone. All in all, I like this phone a lot. I can't say that it's better or worse than my previous phone, just kind of different. It is smaller than the Pearl, though, which is a nice change. I was bored with the Pearl and tired of paying for the Blackberry service and text messaging

I just like Sony Ericsson phones,battery life is great,I had LG CU500 and had to charge it every other day. sony makes good looking phones that have good voice quality.and K550I it feels solid with good camera, just love it.

In Text Messages Doesnt have Delivery Report; Speaker Phone its a little bit low; Signal is not sow well.

I like how small this phone is while still having a rather large screen that is amazingly easy to read in any light conditions. Some mention the size of the buttons as an issue, but I was seemlessly navigating the menus/txting without miss pressing in all of about two days. This phone has the best call quality of any phone that I have ever owned (T720/ razr/ razr v3/ sgh-a227). I was amazed at the speed at which this phone will transfer and receive files through Bluetooth, it far surpassed others i have seen. Online support was amazing easy to use. The automated setup for mms / email / internet were completed instantly. It even with my back water service provider listed!
Now for the bad, as others have said the camera seems to be lacking if they want to call this a cybershot. Don't get me wrong, with good light conditons and steady hand it is capable of some very good images. Just don't expect indoor or any sort of movement to be satisfactory. Overall I would recomend this phone to a friend. And also the flashlight comes in hand more than you would think.
