Great cellphone for people who have a thing for style and performance!
I'm extremely happy with the Xperia Arc even though it wasn't my first choice when i wanted a new smartphone. Was actually going for the Xperia Neo first, but then the Neo was delayed due to the earthquake in Japan and Sony Ericsson put the priority on the Arc which already had started shipping. So instead of the Neo i went ahead and got the more expensive Arc, a choice that i don't regret. After all it seems like the Neo isn't as good as the specs promise even though the hardware is more or less than identical to the Arc. Why it is like that i have no idea, i'm just happy that i got the Arc since it's the best portable device i've had so far.
Eye candy and superb phone for half the price of an iPhone.
This is a phone I got as an upgrade from my provider after 6 (yes, 6) SE Xperia X10 in a year, some of which didn't even deign to turn on for the first use. Along with my 2 kids, we have had a staggering *12* X10s, of which 2 are actually functionning correctly.
I had vowed to stay away from SE for the rest of my life, as I feel they are unable to make a smartphone that actually works. Plus their tech support does nothing but be surprised, say they are sorry, and do nothing. Classic ostrich's Head-in-the-Sand game.
I was enticed to go back to SE for the ARC on the grounds that they supposedly had changed their infrastructure.
Now, I am biting my fingers for it.
My advice: stay away from this brand, they are vastly unable to make reliable smartphones and Support sucks!

xperia arc
Had iPhone before this and the Arc knocks spots of it. Has all the apps and widgets/gagets you can get on the iPhone but actually handles so much better as an actual phone.
got it about 2/3 (or less) iphone4 price, hate it for first few days, but really appreciated the arc now.
when the stock launcher quite good, i just throw it to give way to go launcher (to get benefit of folder in apps drawer, sound like ios, but this is the best way to organize). my arc now have very minimal ui with only 1 desktop (just minimal usable widget) & 1 page folded applications drawer. as well as flat color & transparent here & there. when i'm not hating ios, this is my biggest reasons to android, deep customization (after root privileged of course)
sound department, at last i can leave (but can't forget) my rockboxed sansa clip. use it with cheap but great soundmagic pl10 (great for instrumental). GREAT sound seperation. bass into fun side. when iphone4 have great & elegant sq, they lack of fun but arc have that. i think some fun give more enjoying for long duration music listening. overall very good sq & i even preferring arc than iphone (others? samsung, htc? i don't think so)
for conclusion, if you don't care about customization & want great support for your applications, just pick ios with iphone as also very good hardware. if you playtime with your os & customization more than your games playtime on your phone, you can consider this Arc. both intended to fashion conscious. but for great raw power but lack appearance, lg optimus 2x have good hardware overall.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is my first ever smartphone. And I have to say it is almost perfect. I am loving this phone from the day I bought it. The overall design of this phone perfect. Thin, sexy, and easy to carry. I couldn't ask for better call quality. The 4.1" screen is super crisp, and to add more to the mix, the 8.1MP camera takes breath taking shots. The 720p HD video is also great. The only downsides to the camera is that you can't zoom in most modes, but oh well. I am sure there's an app for that (sorry Apple). I love the fact that flash is built into the phone, so you are not limited sites, like the iPhone is.
There are some downsides to this phone, but they are not too bad. The battery life could be better. The phone lasts about 1.5 days with moderate use, which is not extremely bad. But I would have loved to see the battery last about 2 to 3 days. Oh well.
All and all this is a great phone. I would suggest to anyone that is looking for a smartphone.
Anyone else wonder about the pathetic reporting, where nobody thinks for a minute when Apple release overpriced products. However they are soon to call anyone else out... Pathetic.
